“Scorpions Vs Razorbacks: GFL2 2023 Season Opener Review”

On 05/27 our GFL2 team started the 2023 season. Our team went into the game against the Razorbacks from Fürstenfeldbruck with a broad chest and self-confidence, against whom an exciting game was delivered last year, which was then lost shortly before the end with 0:8.

Our Scorpions demonstrate Strong Will early in the game. The opponent’s mission is clear: establish their will, but the young team from Stuttgart only allows one score in the first half, despite several imports from the Razorbacks. Only offensively, the team around playmaker Jonathan Urich is not fully into the game. So the Scorpions have to go into half-time with a 0:7.

After halftime, the offense slowly felt better into the game. But this time it’s the defense that takes a nap and loses sight of a receiver during one of the rare passes from the Fürstenfelden. This error was converted directly to 0:13. In the Scorpions’ offensive drive that followed, we put ourselves on the scoreboard. Tim Döringer benefits from a good mismatch, and Urich accurately puts the pass 50 yards into the window, 07-13.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough in the end. Our offense got the right to attack twice more, including an interception by safety Cedric König, but the razorback defense held up. So in the end there is a defeat that is characterized by small mistakes. This kind of defeat is definitely painful, but it gives you a positive view of the tasks ahead this season.
