Rugby player Bryn Hargreaves disappeared without a trace.
14 months later, the body has been found – near his home.
”I can’t find any words to describe the pain“, the mother writes on social media.
It was in January 2022 that former Wigan Warriors player Bryn Hargreaves disappeared from his American home in Cheat Lake, West Virginia.
Since then, several major search efforts have been carried out, without finding the 36-year-old.
Now he has been found, which his brother confirms via Facebook.
”Rest in Peace Bryn Hargreaves. It is with incredible sadness that I can confirm after 14 months that we have finally found Bryn. We still don’t know the cause of death”, he writes.
His mother has also expressed her grief.
”I am broken to pieces, my beautiful son Bryn, I cannot find words to describe the pain.”
Found close to home
According to the Daily Mail, local police confirm that the body was found in a forest near his former residence. Since two years before the disappearance, the Brit lived alone in the house, having separated from his wife.
Some of his former clubs have shown their support for the family following the news of his death.
”Wigan Warriors are saddened to learn that our former player Bryn Hargreaves has been found dead. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time”, they write.

Hargreaves played in the Super League between 2014 and 2012, before moving to the US at the age of 28 to work in the oil and gas industry. In total, he played 212 games as a professional.
