Driving a truck through the center of Antwerp on Monday evening? You shouldn’t ask Ruth Beeckmans that twice. After she quickly obtained her C driving license for ‘Aller/Retour’, the actress literally rumbled to her premiere. “I’ve had better ideas at this hour,” he laughs.
‘Aller/Retour’ tells the story of truck driver Erika (Ruth Beeckmans), who catches transmigrant Idy (Welket Bungué) trying to slip out of her truck. When her colleagues see this – and a confrontation ensues – Erika has no choice but to take Idy on board. On that enforced journey, however, an unexpected friendship is born. A story that will run in Flemish cinemas from Wednesday, but for which our BVs were happy to get out of their room a day earlier.
