The weakest need to be protected
Even if the number of new infections in Germany remains at a comparatively low level, the danger has not yet been averted. Regions, such as those in Göttingen, are continually developing into corona hotspots.
After several private celebrations, there are more than 150 people in quarantine, including many children and adolescents. As the city announced, dozens of people have already tested positive for Sars-CoV-2, at least one of them is seriously ill. Most of those affected are members of various large families.
What should not be forgotten: for many people, the disease is still life-threatening. The weak must be protected.

Numbers may fluctuate
The RKI also said that the value is currently sensitive to short-term changes in the number of cases, such as those caused by individual outbreaks. “This can lead to relatively large fluctuations, especially when there are fewer new cases overall.”
Since mid-May, the RKI has also been providing a so-called 7-day R. It refers to a longer period and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to RKI estimates, this value (data as of May 31, 0:00) was 0.90 (previous day: 0.95). It shows the infection process 8 to 16 days ago. (with dpa)
