Volvo announced that the new brand includes cars with all-electric power plants, models with a “soft hybrid” and a hybrid with the ability to recharge from an external source.

In 2020, Recharge will be presented by two models: Volvo XC90 T8 and Volvo XC60 T8. In the years 2021-2025, the lineup should expand.

Volvo noted that as part of their concern for the environment, they plan to reduce the “carbon footprint” from their activities by 40%, as well as bring sales of electric versions to 50% of the total volume of cars. By 2040, the Swedish brand seeks to achieve the status of a company with zero environmental impact.

The XC90 and XC60 are equipped with a Twin Engine powerplant. Its total power is 407 hp, of which 320 hp provides a T6 gasoline engine with a front axle drive and 87 hp – an electric motor with traction on the rear axle.

On electric power alone, these models can accelerate to 135 km / h. With the joint operation of electric motors and a gasoline engine, fuel consumption is reduced to 2.5 l / 100 km for the XC90 and to 2.2 l / 100 km for the XC60. The battery life cycle is 5 thousand charges. This is approximately 300 thousand km or 15 years of operation, calculated by Volvo.

Volvo said that for anyone who orders a car before September 30, 2020, the company will pay a year of electricity to charge hybrid models. And they promised to equip their dealerships with charging stations for the development of the infrastructure of electrified cars.
