On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, June 14, the French Blood Establishment (EFS) is organizing a major three-day blood drive in Saint-Brieuc (Côtes-d’Armor) and “calls on the population for a massive mobilization before the summer period. Blood supplies are currently very fragile and gradually decreasing each week.
Need 600 donations every day in Brittany
The EFS recalls that it is « it is important that mobilization be regular in order to maintain reserves at a stable level. L and sang collected mainly makes it possible to treat people suffering from long-term illnesses, such as cancers or even leukemia. Patients need blood products all year round”.
Every day in France, 10,000 blood donations are needed to meet the needs of these patients. This figure rises to 600 in Brittany.
