Sukoharjonews.com – A strong immune system will support your body against illnesses such as colds and flu. It can also help you recover from injuries and keep your energy levels high.

Quoted from the Cleveland Clinic, published from several sources on Thursday, (25/5/2023), registered dietitian Julia Zumpano, RD, LD, for a closer look at which vitamins are best for boosting your immunity, as well as what foods you can eat. find in them and how they can help you stay healthy. Therefore, consider the following list of vitamins that can boost your immunity:

1. Vitamin C
This one, you probably know. Vitamin C is one of the greatest immune system boosters of all. In fact, researchers say a lack of vitamin C can make you more susceptible to getting sick. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant, meaning it can protect your body from toxins that cause inflammation in your body. Getting regular intake of vitamin C is essential for good health because your body doesn’t produce it on its own. It also doesn’t save it for later use. The good news is that vitamin C is present in so many foods that most people do not need to take vitamin C supplements unless directed by a doctor. Vitamin C can be found in red peppers, oranges, kiwi, strawberries and grape juice.

2. Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that helps your body fight infection. Researchers say vitamin E is one of the most effective nutrients for your immune function. That’s because it helps keep your T-cells running at peak performance. Zumpano says to avoid taking vitamin E supplements. Not only is there little clinical research showing that vitamin E supplements may benefit your health, but they can also be harmful in some situations. Instead, fill your plate with foods that contain vitamin E such as wheat germ oil, nuts, spinach, broccoli, mangoes, and tomatoes.

3. Selenium
Selenium diet is a one-two punch to keep you healthy. Researchers say it not only activates your immune system when there’s a threat, but also tells your immune system when to brake. That means it can keep your immune system from going into overdrive, protecting you from chronic inflammation and autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and psoriasis. Zumpano suggests filling yourself up with these high-selenium foods. Foods listed higher on this list contain the most selenium include Brazil nuts, tuna, eggs, oatmeal, milk and yogurt, legumes.

4. Vitamin B6
B6 is essential for supporting biochemical reactions in your immune system. One of its main roles is in producing white blood cells and T-cells. It’s the cells in your body that respond to fight invaders, such as viruses and bacteria. Foods rich in vitamin B6 include the following, in order from most B6 to foods with lower amounts of B6, including spinach, beef, chicken breast, potatoes and bananas. (septa ideal)
