The SPÖ has criticized the termination of the women’s Bundesliga by the ÖFB due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis this week. SPÖ federal women’s manager Andrea Brunner saw the Ministry of Sport on the train in a broadcast on Saturday and spoke of a disadvantage for women compared to men.

“The women’s Bundesliga should now be able to finish their season, which was interrupted due to Corona, as it is the case with the men’s Bundesliga,” said Brunner.
In the men’s Bundesliga, tests for the virus should create the necessary security for the players. As representatives of the women’s clubs have already said, these are not affordable for the clubs. Brunner therefore said: “There must be a way that the necessary PCR tests can be financed for them. The sports minister would be asked here. “
“A continuation of the season alone would have meant an unmanageable additional financial effort for the clubs due to ongoing corona tests.” – Everything about yesterday’s informal video conference of the Planet Pure Women Bundesliga ???? https://t.co/srZPw3udjB

ÖFB rejects criticism
The ÖFB rejected the criticism. “Women’s football in Austria has been promoted very strongly for years and has developed very positively in recent years. Nonetheless, there are major economic and organizational differences between the tipico Bundesliga and the Planet Pure Women’s Bundesliga. ”
In addition, the statement from Saturday said: “In leagues comparable to the Planet Pure Women Bundesliga in other sports – both men and women – it is also not allowed to resume training or game operations.”
