Matthew Perry looks disturbing. He was spotted next to a cafe this week for the first time in months, after concerned fans alerted him to the condition when he appeared during the film Friends: The Reunion.
The 52-year-old actor was filmed in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles over the weekend with a friend, GlasNews.bg writes, citing The Sun.
Matthew smoked while taking ice cream at Starbucks. He was wearing a black T-shirt and white shorts. The actor looked confused and out of breath as he walked through the parking lot with his coffee.
In May, fans expressed concern about Matthew as he seemed to blur his words and nod during a promotional interview for the Special Friends gathering. Then he sat down with all the favorites of all the actors of “Friends” for an interview with People, which made the group remember their years in the series.
Fans, however, noticed that the Canadian actor did not answer the questions with his usual wit and seemed quiet and distracted. Quite a few fans expressed in the comments their concern for Matthew, who has been struggling with addiction since his time in the famous production.
Despite speculation, The Sun notes that Matthew’s slurred speech was due to urgent dental work, not a drug relapse.
“Matthew showed up at the meeting and his team members told him he had an emergency dental procedure that day,” a tabloid source said.
This affected his well-being as well as his feelings. He was in pain, which caused his slurred speech.
“Obviously no one wants to shoot after such a procedure, but in this case it was inevitable,” the source added, adding that the actor said he was sober and did not need to worry about him.
The following month, Matthew broke up with his fiancée Molly Hurwitz. The 51-year-old actor of “Friends” and the 29-year-old literary manager started dating in 2018 and got engaged in November 2020.
