“Mentally, it helps partners maintain a deeper emotional bond, can relieve stress and help you sleep,” explains Dr Foster.
One study found those who had sex regularly had higher levels of immunoglobulin A antibodies compared to people who had sex less than once a week.
Immunoglobin A is considered a powerful defense against colds and flu. In addition to preventing the flu, frequent sex is also evidence that men have a healthy heart.
“From a cardiovascular point of view, that means the arteries in the penis don’t constrict with cholesterol deposits and harden due to high blood pressure,” says Dr. Foster.
