Two Mass Organizations Clash in Cianjur, One Dies

Ormas Youth of Pancasila and the Banten Large Family Potential Development Agency (BPPKB) were involved in clashes at the Cianjur-Sukabumi border, West Java. Precisely in Gekbrong Village, Cianjur on Sunday afternoon (26/9).

The two organizations also clashed using sharp weapons. As a result, one person was reported to have died.

Cianjur Police Chief AKBP Doni Hermawan said the clashes occurred in the aftermath of an earlier fight in Sumedang.

“The clashes caused members of the PP Ormas to die with grievous injuries. While the BPPKB Ormas headquarters was damaged by mobs and burned, we secured dozens of sharp weapons, motor vehicles and other evidence,” Doni said quoting Antara.

The victims who died as a result of the clashes were members of Pemuda Pancasila. There were also reported injuries.

So far, the police have secured a number of evidences in the form of sharp weapons and motorbikes belonging to members of the related mass organizations.

“We have secured evidence, we are also asking for a number of witnesses. We will proceed further, whether it is the perpetrator who caused the death toll or the one who caused the injury,” he said.

In January 2020, BPKB was also involved in clashes with other mass organizations at the Cianjur-Sukabumi border. Many people were involved and several people were injured.
