The director of the Colegio Luís Seoane de Mera: “The decision to force me to resign was totally unfair” | Radio Coruña

The Luis Seoane de Mera School is at the moment no management team after the Department of Education communicated the dismissal to the director and also the head of studies and the secretary of the center, as a result of the case of the forgotten child on the school bus. The two teachers summoned this morning by the administration have expressed their desire to not assume the management position.

The former director, Maria Jose Ruíz feels overwhelmed by the situation and insists over and over that her priority It was taking care of little Santiago Ezequiel, his parents and the bus driver, completely dejected by what happened.

María José Ruíz states that the tone used by the Territorial Chief Education and the Area inspector, when they contacted her, it was totally inappropriate. He indicates that he sent an email to the administration in full detail and saying that he felt that his actions had not been positively assessed by the administration: “He leaned on the table facing me and said – I just come to tell you that I have the instructions of the Territorial Chief that present your resignation and that I totally support him- I was at the boardroom table and I stayed … and I told him -but I don’t want to resign- and he said to me -you will see what he is exposing you- he opened his arms and I didn’t he gave me more choice, he put the papers on the table for me I guess you will have a pen and I said, because yes and at that moment I felt like I was in a movie, I wanted to say “I want a lawyer”.

Ruíz is Luís Seoane’s counselor. In addition to trying to gather information that morning and being very aware of the child and his parents, she was immersed in the entire process of managing student scholarships. She reiterates that she was forced to resign.

The mayor of Oleiros, Angel Garcia Seoane, affirms that if there is no rectification of Education on the dismissal, it will present a criminal complaint for understanding that the way in which the director was treated is “fascist”. It will send a letter to the president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. The ANPA in a statement he shows his support for the management team and considers the situation to be totally unfair and due, he says, “the lack of professionalism of the Educational Inspection and, specifically, of the inspector to whom that area corresponds“.

The Staff Board of A Coruña, the highest body representing the teaching staff of public education in the province, unanimously requests the dismissal of the Territorial Head of Education, Indalecio Cabana, and that an investigation be opened on the actions of the inspector of the center. CIG-Education qualifies Cabana’s behavior as “unpresentable and caciquil” and understands that with the forced resignation of the director what is intended is to divert attention from the responsibilities that correspond to the administration, as it is the one who hires the transport companies.
