The symbol on the wall of the President’s Office building appeared at 23.35, when the rally had already ended, law enforcement officers installed.

A swastika was painted on the building of the President’s Office after the end of the protest over the imprisonment of the activist Sergei Sternenko. This was stated by the head of the National Police Igor Klimenko in the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, March 30.

“Regarding the swastika on the wall of the President’s Office. The symbol really appeared after the end of the action, at 23.35. We installed this face. I will not disclose details until all procedural documents have been duly completed,” Klimenko said.

Klimenko outlined the version of the police about the events of March 20 on Bankova. According to him, there were enough security officials on the spot and they could intervene quickly enough, but it was decided “not to get hooked on manipulations and provocations.”

He added that the “provocateurs” allegedly had the goal of showing the whole world how the authorities would violate the constitutional right of citizens to peaceful protest, but law enforcement officers “broke their plans” and did not allow clashes and bloodshed.

As calculated in the National Police, the protesters used more than a hundred flares, more than 80 firecrackers, several dozen spray cans and paint bottles, 15 fireworks installations. 1,500 people took part in the protest action, 5% of them committed active aggressive actions.

Now, a pre-trial investigation has begun under four articles of the Criminal Code. The suspicion was reported to seven people.

As a reminder, on March 20, a rally in support of activist Sergei Sternenko was held near the President’s Office. Its participants painted the building of the OP and fired at him with pyrotechnics. The OP later stated that will not give damaged doors to the exhibition, they will be restored.
