Music – Dresden – Anniversary edition of the Dixieland Festival canceled again – Culture

Dresden (dpa) – The International Dixieland Festival Dresden has postponed its 50th edition again because of the corona pandemic. Originally, the anniversary should be celebrated in May, on Friday the organizer canceled, as in the previous year. It should now take place from May 15-22, 2022. Nevertheless, under the slogan “Dixieland – we are still alive” they want to make a few sounds with an event next May. It is about sending a message to the many loyal fans, it said. However, it is first necessary to wait for the further course of the pandemic and the associated measures.

The Dixieland Festival in Dresden has a reputation for being the largest European festival for old-time jazz. In fact, hundreds of thousands of people have flocked to the concerts – including many open-air events – every year over the past few decades. The crowning glory of the festival is a street parade of all the bands through Dresden city center.
