The new conditions for benefiting from the energy voucher in 2021

Replacing the old social tariffs for electricity and gas intended for precarious households, the energy check makes it possible to pay an electricity, gas, fuel or wood bill. In 2020, some 5.5 million households took advantage of the energy voucher.

In order to allow more people to benefit from it, the resource ceiling not to be exceeded for the 2021 campaign has been increased by € 100 compared to last year.

Thus, only households whose reference tax income divided by the number of consumption units (UC) is less than € 10,800 on the 1st^is January 2021 are entitled to the energy check. Previously, this eligibility threshold was set at € 10,700.

Up to € 277 in energy voucher

Since 1^is January 2021, the face value including tax of the energy check is set at:

NB: the value of the energy check depends on the level of income and the composition of the household, defined in consumption units. A household represents all the people who share the same dwelling. The value of consumption units (CU) is calculated as follows: the first person in the household counts for 1 CU, the second for 0.5 CU and the following ones for 0.3 CU.

A simulator allows you to check your eligibility for the energy check free of charge. To do this, all you have to do is enter your tax number.

All checks will be sent before the end of April

For the 2021 campaign, the energy vouchers will automatically be sent to eligible beneficiaries on the basis of the data declared to the tax services. They will be sent in April 2021, according to a dispatch schedule that will soon be set by the Ministry of Ecological and Inclusive Transition.

Remember that the 2020 energy vouchers can be used until March 31, 2021 (online – or by paper).
