President Erdogan held his protective hand over his son-in-law Berat Albayrak for a long time – even after the unpopular finance minister was rumored to be having an affair. But that changed when Trump was voted out of office.

It helped. president Recep Tayyip Erdogan did not accept Soylu’s resignation, and he returned to the cabinet strengthened. Nobody stood up for the most unpopular minister in the Erdogan cabinet, even though he is the president’s son-in-law. Because, unlike Soylu, Albayrak has become a mortgage.
