Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – As time goes by, all HP brands in the world are always improving the technology embedded in their products. Not surprisingly, the best-selling smart phones in the world are currently dominated by the Android and iOS operating systems.
The Samsung brand is allegedly still dominating the world cellphone market with a market share of 20% in the third quarter of 2023. However, its sales decreased 13% year-on-year (YoY).
The cellphone market is still continuing to decline and has entered the 9th quarter in a row. Overall, global HP sales fell 8% in Q3-2023 on an annual basis, according to the Market Pulse report from research firm Counterpoint.
Even so, there is still a glimmer of hope because it grew 2% quarterly.
Samsung’s consistent position at number 1 shows the South Korean manufacturer’s resilience in facing difficult times. Counterpoint said Samsung’s performance was supported by sales of the Z Flip 5, which was almost twice as high as its competitors on the market.
Apart from that, the Galaxy A series is still the leader in the middle class segment, quoted from the Counterpoint report.
Meanwhile, in second place is Apple, which has a 16% market share, even though its sales have decreased by 9% on an annual basis. Sales of the iPhone 15 are predicted to provide bad ‘news’ for Apple for its next quarterly report.
Because, in the first 17 days of sales of the iPhone 15, the figure was reported to be down 4.5% compared to the iPhone 14. China, which is an important market for Apple, seems not too interested in the iPhone 15. The position of the Cupertino manufacturer has fallen to number 2, beaten by Huawei.
Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo occupy positions 3rd to 5th respectively. Meanwhile, Honor, Huawei and Transsion Group showed slight growth.
Collectively, other HP manufacturers combined control 34% of the smartphone market share with sales growth of 2%.
