The new infections in our country: they have been ascertained in the last 24 hours 37,809 almost (+ 3 thousand compared to yesterday) compared to 234mila tampons, these are also growing. The rate of positivity, however, it does not remain unchanged: if yesterday it stood at 15.69%, today it exceeds 16% on the total number of tests carried out. If we consider only the new cases tested, however, (thus excluding the control swabs, which are about 100 thousand out of 234 thousand), the incidence of positives goes from 25.6% to 28.1%. 446 dead. As for the situation in hospitals, another 124 patients ended up in intensive care, while 749 were hospitalized in Covid departments. The total number of people in intensive care therefore reaches 2,515, while they are 24,005 beds employed in other departments. Of these, over 5,000 are in Lombardy and 3,871 in Piedmont.

Among the Regions, the greatest increase in infections is recorded once again in Lombardy, now close to 10 thousand infections daily. Others have been ascertained in the last 24 hours 9,934 almost, 131 deaths. Here the positivity rate reaches 40.4% with 24 thousand cases tested, while two weeks ago (Friday 23 October) it was stopped at 22%. They follow closely the Piedmont (+4.878) and the Campania (+4.508). Both territories exceed 4 thousand infections for the first time, compared to about 20 thousand swabs carried out, making a leap compared to 3 thousand yesterday. Record as well in Veneto, struggling with 3,297 cases, while Lazio e Tuscany they amount to about 2,500 infections. +1.953 in Emilia Romagna, over a thousand Liguria e Sicily. It touches again a thousand quota as well Puglia, while Market, Umbria e province of Bolzano they mark about 700 new infections. The only double-digit Region is once again the Molise (+76).

Looking at the trend of cases on a weekly basis, it appears that between Monday and Friday there was no doubling compared to last week: 153,361 infections were confirmed this week, while between Monday and last Friday they were 121.912. On the other hand, deaths are increasing rapidly: this week 1,812 people died (of which 900 only between yesterday and today), while a week ago they were 983, practically half. Two weeks ago they were stuck at 516. Overall, people currently positive in Italy there are 499,118 (+26,770), of which 472,598 in home isolation. The number of dead, however, with over 400 deaths today and yesterday, exceeds 40 thousand. Strong increase of patients recovered from Covid-19 or discharged from the hospital: they are 10 thousand more than yesterday. The total since the beginning of the pandemic therefore rises to 322,925. On the other hand, there are 862,681 cases of coronavirus confirmed in our country since the emergency broke out.

Lombardy – Out of 9,934 positives, 4,296 were ascertained in province of Milan (of which 1,763 only in Milan city). The provinces of Bergamo (362), Brescia (569), Como (941), Cremona (237), Lecco (338) follow. Lodi (103), Mantua (254), Monza and Brianza (968), Pavia (408), Sondrio (94), Varese (1,124). Overall, another 245 patients were hospitalized in Lombard hospitals, while 48 require intensive care.

Veneto – In Veneto another 3,387 cases were ascertained (yesterday they were 3,264) with 27 dead. The total number of deaths therefore rises to 2,543, while those infected since the beginning of the epidemic are 72,092. Currently positive citizens in the Region are 43,937. These numbers, however, remain at too high levels, clarifies the governor Luca Zaia. “We are entering the step 4, we are in a situation of maximum turbulence and tension in hospitals. Phase 4 means a further crackdown. Our phases are not connected with the zones established by the government, let’s not combine the two, let’s call them phases of a hospital nature“.

Piedmont – There are 29 deaths of positive people in the Covid-19 test reported by the Crisis Unit of the Piedmont Region, of which 2 occurred today.
