9 Weirdest Experiments During 2021, One Life Almost Lost

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Scientists often carry out various experiment risky, and sometimes unsuccessful. The experiment they did to find the truth for human life in the future.

Not infrequently scientists conduct strange experiments, such as research throughout 2021 quoted from Live Science.

A pair of eyes on the human brain

In August, a group of scientists claimed to have developed a tiny human brain with a pair of eyes.

They created Cronenberg-like miniature brains, called organoids, by turning stem cells into neural tissue. It then stimulates the cell with a chemical signal to form a tiny “optical cup” filled with light-sensitive cells.

Strange as they are, however, they are very useful constructs for studying brain development and have the potential to create drugs for the retina.

Understanding crows

Scientists are experimenting to prove crows are smart enough to understand numbers.

The concept of zero, as if developed by human society somewhere in the fifth century, requires abstract thought.

So it was quite surprising when a June paper in The Journal of Neuroscience revealed that crows not only choose zero as a differentiator from other numbers, but also find it easier to associate it with a one than a higher number.

Scans of the bird’s brain activity during the experiment showed that crows had the neurons to perceive the number zero.

Scientists are also amazed that the brains of humans and ravens can recognize the number zero.

Find out the Brazil nuts rise to the surface

In April researchers finally found the answer to one of mankind’s most pressing questions: Brazil nuts always rise to the top of the bag when mixed with other nuts.

The mystery of these nuts is solved by shaking a mixture of peanuts and Brazil nuts. At that time Brazil nuts were placed on the bottom, and a 3D X-ray scan of the bag was taken after each shake.

It turns out that these successive vibrations move the larger ones to a vertical orientation, after which each shock pushes them up.

Make a short-legged spider mutant

The father spider (Phalangium opilio) has long, flexible legs. Scientists created a dwarf version of the ‘father’s short legs’ using a particular gene. By shortening his legs, the researchers hope to uncover the secrets behind his body shape.

The research is also said to give scientists a glimpse into the types of creatures that could have evolved from 400 million years ago, how they survived and searched for prey.

Apart from shortening their legs, scientists are also trying to change spider fangs to find out how they evolved citing newsconcerns.
