9 minutes of short film kicks off the next Battlefield

A new Battlefield game is on the way, and in anticipation of new gameplay and more concrete information about the game experience, we have now been served an animated short film instead. The short film goes by the name Exodus, and helps to establish the premise for why people ran around and shot at each other in Battlefield 2042.

In the near future, nations have collapsed and been replaced by private military companies. “No-Pats” creates chaos around the world, and in the middle of it all are the game’s many different “Specialists”. One of these is Irish, an “Engineer” type who returns from his appearance in Battlefield 4.

Now, as then, the character is portrayed by the ever-formidable Michael K. Williams, who is known for his roles in The Wire and Boardwalk Empire, among other things.

Otherwise, the short film does not reveal too much, but considering how short it is until the game’s launch, which is scheduled for October 22, we hardly have to wait long for the next news item about Battlefield 2042.
