Whoever thought that Wesley Sneijder’s biography would only be about his football career is wrong. ‘Sneijder’ is full of passages about his relationship with Yolanthe Cabau. Their first meeting, the kiss in the parking garage and their divorce: everything is discussed. And when it comes to the break, Wesley puts her hand in his own bosom.

Their first date
If a well-known Dutch football player dates a showbiz babe, chances are that the press will quickly get to know about their romance. Wesley was therefore very careful. Their first date did not take place in a restaurant or bar, but in the Amsterdamse Bos. “We chose that place, precisely because we did not know each other well. If we had agreed somewhere in a restaurant or bar, it would have been immediately publicized.” So their first date was low key. “That was a lot of fun. Yolanthe went to her house after that, I went to mine.”

The first kiss
Wes and Yo had a lot of contact after their first date and the mutual feelings grew stronger. After a dinner with friends, the two said goodbye to each other in a parking garage. Their first kiss followed. “A photo of the kiss got RTL Boulevard, after which the entire media circus got under way. The garage management regretted the course of events, because they also knew that our privacy had been violated. Someone who worked there had sold the images.”

The marriage proposal
It was soon clear to Wesley that it was a big shot between the two. After about three months, he asked Yolanthe to live with him in Madrid. “Yolanthe gave me wings from day one, I felt very strong and happy.” So it’s no surprise that he proposed to her in an airplane. In 2009, between Christmas and New Years, the couple flew to Dubai with friends and family. “I was very nervous because halfway through I asked Yolanthe to marry. That turned out to be high above Istanbul, where we ended up together a few years later.”

Their family
The couple seemed to be thriving, but Mother Nature threw a spanner in the works. “Yolanthe and I quickly decided that we wanted a child, no we did children wild ones. It was difficult to manage. “Yolanthe followed an intensive treatment to be able to get pregnant.” I was not 100 percent okay, “says Wesley.” A great damper. Wesley already had a son, Jessey, from a previous relationship. However, the contact between father and son was not good. Yolanthe changed that by talking to Jessey’s mother. “I might not have seen him for years without her. She flew from country to country to pick him up and return home safely after a few days. Nothing was too much for her.”

Yolanthe’s career
Wesley’s career put Yolanthe’s on the back burner. Or just say it: the wick was turned off. She was offered a lot of jobs, but the footballer had a hard time with that. “I needed her.” I’m following you, “she said.” Now your athletic career counts. Mine might come later. ” That now sounds very romantic, but that’s how it went. She left herself. “
The presenter slash the actress was even offered a role in an American series; she should sign there for seven years. “But she put that aside, a seven-year contract … I went ahead, you bastard who I was.”

Wesley’s evenings
According to Wesley, things went completely wrong over time. He used to party with bad friends and came into contact with women and drink. “It all got out of hand.” Yolanthe was told the wildest stories about her husband, but continued to trust him. “But the evenings got worse and so did the stories. I saw the pain and disbelief in her eyes, I could barely look at her.”
The footballer confessed everything after long delays. He was the one who messed up, he emphasizes in the book. “I don’t miss anything at Yolanthe, there’s nothing wrong with her. What it is? Fame, ego, money. Power. Lust.”
His excesses caused a lot of pain for Yolanthe: “It wasn’t just the parties, it was also my temperament, so I didn’t always treat Yo as it should.”

The break
Yolanthe gave Wesley another chance, but he continued to deal with bad friends. Enough was enough and Yo decided not to run over him anymore. “She couldn’t do it anymore. I saw it in her. I was destroying my dream wife and family.”

Contact now
Although love is over, the couple are still good friends. Yolanthe lives with Xess Xava in Los Angeles and the plan was that Wesley would often come that way. Now they speak to each other because of corona mainly via FaceTime. “I recently chatted with Xess, who was sitting in the living room. There was a picture of the three of us on the wall behind him. Then I broke.”
The couple has not yet been officially divorced. “I know the rumor that we are not divorcing because a divorce would cost me a lot of money and I want to prevent that. Money has nothing to do with it.” Wesley indicates there is no rush. He even hopes it will work out someday. “I hope that someday we will become a family again. After all, I have less right to speak. I am happy and I have been all these years, but Yolanthe also deserves to be happy.”
