7 Natural Cholesterol Medicines for Health

High cholesterol levels can happen to anyone. People with high cholesterol have a high risk of stroke and ischemic heart disease death highest in Indonesia according to Ministry of Health.

From data World Health Organization (WHO), globally, one -third of ischemic heart disease is caused by high cholesterol. In total, an increase in cholesterol is estimated to cause 2.6 million deaths.

Cholesterol is a fat-like substance found in the bloodstream, body organs, and nerve fibers. Most of the cholesterol in the body is made by the liver from various sources food, especially from saturated fats such as those found in animal products.

The incidence of heart and blood vessel disease is influenced by many factors, according to an article by Edgar David Sigarlaki in the Medical Journal of the University of Lampung. One of them is caused by hypercholesterolemia, which is a condition where cholesterol levels in the blood increase above normal limits.

Cholesterol Type

in the book HDL and LDL Cholesterol by Irwin S. Pagano and Nathan B. Strait, cholesterol is divided into two, namely high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL).

HDL is known as “good cholesterol” because it transports cholesterol to your liver for elimination from your body. HDL helps rid your body of excess cholesterol making it less likely to end up in your arteries.

LDL is called “bad cholesterol” because it carries cholesterol to your arteries that can collect in artery walls. Too much cholesterol in your arteries can lead to a buildup of plaque known as atherosclerosis which can increase the risk of blood clots in your arteries.

Plaque buildup can also reduce the flow of blood and oxygen to major organs. Lack of oxygen to your organs or arteries can lead to kidney disease or peripheral artery disease, in addition to a heart attack or stroke.

The only way to tell if your cholesterol is high is through a blood test that measures cholesterol in milligrams per deciliter of blood (mg/dL). The higher the HDL cholesterol level, the better. Must be at least higher than 55 mg/dL for women and 45 mg/dL for men.

While LDL cholesterol levels should not be more than 130 mg/dL if you do not have heart disease, blood vessel disease, or diabetes. If you have any of these conditions or have high total cholesterol, the LDL level should not exceed 100 mg/dL.

Natural Cholesterol Medicine

Lowering cholesterol levels is an ideal strategy to reduce the occurrence of heart disease and stroke. Natural cholesterol drugs can be used because they are easy, safe, and simple. The natural cholesterol drugs are as follows.

3. Eggplant

Eggplant can be consumed as a natural cholesterol remedy. The results of the 2014 study in Phytotherapy Research showed that chlorogenic acid, the main antioxidant in eggplant, can lower bad cholesterol (LDL) levels and reduce the risk of liver disease.

As an excellent source of fiber, eggplant also provides other important nutrients that support the immune system, aid brain function, and promote blood clotting and bone health.

The results are published in Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry showed, bad cholesterol levels dropped to 13.72% and total triglycerides dropped and 20.8%.
