The San Javier Theater, Music and Dance festival It has become an obligatory meeting point for all those fans of these disciplines who meet each year in August at the Auditorium of the Almansa de San Javier Park. This year the contest turns 50 and celebrates it in style July 31 to August 25, with music, theater and dance on the street.
Nuria Espert, Lluis Pasqual, José María Pou, Mario Gas, Lluís Homar, Joglars, José Carlos Plaza, Magüi Mira, Lolita Flores, Rafael Álvarez El Brujo and Juan Mayorga, among other great names in Spanish theater, they will spend the next August in the San Javier International Theater, Music and Dance Festival.
The Festival will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a program that includes 21 shows, three of them on the street, 14 theatrical, two music with Jane Birkin and the Japanese drums of “Yamato”, one of dance with the cuban Carlos Acosta and another of contemporary circus with the French Raphaélle Boitel.
The auditorium of the Almansa Park, of San Javier and the more intimate theater of the “Príncipe de Asturias” center, in Santiago de la Ribera, they will be the double venue of the Festival, with a heterogeneous proposal that also includes well-known names from the current theater, television and film scene such as: Brays Efe, Canco Rodríguez, Ana Morgade, Antonio Hortelano, Alicia Borrachero, Fran Perea, Amaia Salamanca, Elena Ballesteros, Antonio Pagudo and Daniel Guzmán among others.
Jane Birkin will be in charge of opening the San Javier Theater Festival, together with the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, on July 31. The actress Nuria Espert is the winner in this edition and on August 10 and 11 she will represent the Romancero Gitano by García Lorca.
The Japanese company will also pass through San Javier Mato Yamato ’, with his percussion show and the Cuban dancer Carlos Acosta. On its 50th anniversary, the theater festival invites the Murcian company ‘Alquibla Teatro’. Its director, Esperanza Clares, gave a few brushstrokes on the work they will perform on August 6: «Little noise about nothing».
Also this year, the San Javier International Theater, Music and Dance Festival will offer three theater courses for children, youth and adults under the name “Playing at being another”. The workshops that will be held from August 19 to 23 in public spaces, in San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera, will be taught by Antonio Saura, Esperanza Clares and Toñi Olmedo, from Alquibla Escuela de Teatro
The 50th International Festival of Theater, Music and Dance of San Javier has teamed up with Alquibla School of Theater to organize the Acting Interpretation Workshops “Play to be another” that will be aimed at boys and girls (from 6 to 11 years old), young people (from 12 to 17 years old) and adults (from 18 years old).
