Colomiers. Secondary school students received a computer

After the start of the school year, the Occitanie Region proceeds with its now traditional free distribution of computers to high school students. This year, all the pupils of the second were provided with a new PC. “Education is the first budget of the Region because we are convinced with our president Carole Delga that it is the priority”, estimates the regional councilor tournfeuillaise Rachida Lucazeau who gave the computers to the high school students of the sector with his columérin colleague Philippe Briançon . “We are also maintaining free textbooks from the second to the final year and the youth card which offers 20 € of book purchases in bookstores and 15 € aid for sports licenses”.

New developments have taken place in terms of travel with free public transport for all young people from kindergarten to high school. After a period of experimentation until September, all young people between the ages of 18 and 26 can now also benefit from free train rides. “The Region finances 50% of the first five round trips on regional trains”, adds Richida Lucazeau. “From the sixth, the other trips are free until the end of the month”.

In addition, from 2022, all high school students will receive first aid training, while 1,500 additional places have been created for health professions.

“By 2026, the goal is to switch school restaurants to 75% organic and local products against 40% currently”, announces Philippe Briançon.

Finally, several extensions of secondary schools in the sector are scheduled in the coming years, such as at Pibrac, in particular.
