World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said “there is a clear problem that low and middle income people have not received the vaccine”. This was conveyed in the midst of many countries that are carrying out vaccination programs.

In the UK, just weeks after becoming the first country in the world to start vaccinating citizens, local authorities have faced questions about how many doses are available.

Reported by CNN, Monday (11/1), the City of Birmingham in England last week reported running out of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

“The question in the UK is, is there a supply problem, or is there a problem with the infrastructure for the launch? And we really don’t know that. Manufacturers say there is no supply problem, but the government says otherwise,” said Martin McKee, professor of European public health in London. School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

A report from the UK’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) also urged governments to be transparent about vaccine supplies.

When CNN Asking how many doses had been delivered, UK government officials said they were unable to provide details on the size of future supplies and deliveries for safety reasons.

Since the UK started vaccination on December 8, around 2 million people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. But Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised to increase vaccinations to 2 million people per week.

Meanwhile in Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was frustrated to see vaccines in the freezer instead of in people’s hands. As of Sunday, Canada has managed to deliver about 315,000 doses of vaccine since the vaccination campaign was launched on December 14.

So far the covid-19 outbreak worldwide has reached more than 92 million cases and more than 1.9 million deaths.
