The fastest : Short.
10 years already. Released in 2011, the very short series Short only lasted a year but 82 episodes in which Kyan Khojandi tackled almost all subjects. From the 8th grade, he recalls his regular visits to the shrink, always with humor and this touch of truth. Modern, as always.
The most cliché: Two and a Half Men
You may know her as “Mon uncle Charlie” in French. It depicts the life of a hardened bachelor enjoying his beach house, of his one-night conquests and his very quiet life. Until his brother arrives at his house with his son and comes to turn the life of a pasha upside down. Very cliché on the relations between men / women, the series of Chuck Lorre released in 2003 (the father of Big Bang Theory) quickly inserts a very important female character: a shrink. It gives perspective and another reading grid to the series and its main character.
The most virile: Entourage
Entourage is the quintessential male series. A group of 4 friends who break into the cinema to whom almost everything succeeds, and who leads a dream life. On paper, we are not far from perfect. But if the HBO series released in 2004 has remained iconic, it is because its characters, as alpha as they are, are also full of loopholes. Example with Ari Gold, (Jéremy Piven), successful agent, but who struggles in his life as a couple and who multiplies the sessions with the shrink. The most iconic: The Sopranos
Released in 1999, The Sopranos is considered by many to be one of the best series of all time of all styles. It tells the story of a mafia godfather in the midst of a depression. It deals with family issues, stress management and paranoia. An aesthetic and cultural shock for one of the greatest film successes.
The most modern: In Therapy
Released in 2021, En Thérapie paints shrink sessions the day after the attacks of November 13 in Paris. A hard, simplistic, raw and uncluttered framework that leaves room for introspection, dialogue and carried by a varied cast as well on the archetypes as on the characters. Audience success for Arte since it has become the most viewed series on its platform.
