5.3 magnitude earthquake jolts Argentine province of Jujuy

On Sunday, an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale of earthquakes struck the province of Jujuy, at the extreme northwestern end of Argentina, on the border with Chile and Bolivia.

The Bloomberg News Agency, citing a statement of the Euro-Mediterranean Seismic Center, said that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, and was monitored at the convergence of latitude 22.02 degrees south and longitude 65.89 degrees west.

There was no immediate report of casualties or material damage.
