The coronavirus pandemic has killed 475 people in Italy in the past 24 hours, the worst death toll recorded in a single country in a day, civil defense said on Wednesday.

Now nearly 3,000 people have lost their lives in Italy due to the disease, a figure very close to that of China (more than 3,200 dead) where the pandemic started. Italian health services have registered 4,207 new cases in the last 24 hours, a figure again never reached before.
