4-Year-Old Ukrainian Boy Found Alive After Disappearing in Wooded Area Near Radomir

A report of a lost child in a wooded area near Radomir was received at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon on phone 112. This was confirmed by the police in Pernik.

The child is four years old and of Ukrainian origin. It was with its parents near a chapel near the Orlite hut when it disappeared. An operation was launched to search for him, in which volunteer units also participated.

The child was later found, bTV learned. The mayor of Radomir also confirmed that the boy was found.

The operation to search for the 4-year-old child, who disappeared in a wooded area near the “Orlite” hut above the town of Radomir, lasted nearly three hours.

Search parties were immediately formed, involving police, firefighters, Border Police officers and local volunteers. They were equipped with thermal cameras, and two drones were used to survey the area. The boy was found in good health and transported to a hospital, where he was accompanied by his parents, the Ministry of the Interior said.

According to Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov, who commented on the successful search and rescue operation for the child, the happy outcome is the result of the quick, adequate and professional response of all institutions.

The boy was found about three kilometers from where it was reported.

In 2022, 12-year-old Sashko from Pernik spent 9 days in the forest. The examination then showed that he had survived alone in nature and the cold weather.

Saško disappeared from his father’s sight on the afternoon of November 11. The child is searched for on land, water and air, but there is no trace of him. After 9 days and 8 nights, precisely at 2:27 p.m. on November 19, Saško is found alive.
