SERAMBINEWS.COM, JAKARTA – The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate has arrested four perpetrators of suspected online fraud on Instagram.
One of the victims was President Joko Widodo’s youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep.
Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) Public Relations Division of the National Police Brigadier General (Pol) Awi Setiyono said the four perpetrators were minors. “Investigators found four suspects, (namely) AF, GR, MR, DFY.
On average, these children are underage, between 15 and 16 years, “said Awi at the Bareskrim Building, South Jakarta, Friday (18/9/2020).
The case began with a police report numbered LP / A / 508 / IX / 2020 / Bareskrim dated 8 September 2020.
Then, the authorities carried out profiling and found an @luckycatsauction account on Instagram that was auctioning off “branded” items.
The victim who made the transaction then sent money to an account that the police said was an escrow account.
However, the goods that have been paid have never been accepted by the victim.
After checking the ownership of the accounts, the police found that the accounts were controlled by the four suspects located in Aceh and Medan.
Awi said that the four of them met in cyberspace.
