Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan submitted four requests to the central government in the plan for the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in response to the spike in Covid-19.
Anies, in his presentation to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, asked for support from the population tightening plan, additional health workers, to socialization.
The four requests refer to a number of data or the latest situation of the spike in Covid-19 cases in the capital, which is increasingly worrying. Anies, for example, said that the spike in active cases in DKI continued to increase every eight days since last June 19.
The former minister of education and culture in the first era of President Jokowi also said that currently a new Kappa variant has been found from hundreds of cases of the Delta variant which is considered more fatalistic and contagious.
To Luhut, Anies also explained the depleting condition of the hospital. The occupancy rate of isolation places in DKI, as of Monday (28/6) touched 94 percent. While the ICU reached 92 percent.
Anies has also prepared an emergency scenario if Jakarta’s active cases reach 100 thousand, from a doubling of every two days. Now, Jakarta’s active cases have reached more than 70 thousand as of Wednesday (30/6).
In his presentation, Anies’ requests include, firstly, asking for Emergency PPKM to be accompanied by tightening population mobility, both intra and between regions. According to him, the mobility restrictions can be enforced for two weeks as recommended by experts or epidemiologists.
Second, Second, Anies asked for support to add more health workers and their supporters. Health workers include health workers in hospitals, 2,156 field tracers, and 5,139 vaccinators.
Third, Anies wants the regulation of rapid antigen positive with moderate and critical symptoms to be handled in hospitals, aka free for residents and the financing can be claimed.
Finally, Anies asked for support so that public communication could be more intensive, especially regarding the safety, effectiveness and halalness of vaccines.
Emergency PPKM is said to be still in the finalization stage. According to the plan, Emergency PPKM will be announced today, Thursday (1/7). President Jokowi said the regulation would be implemented in 44 districts/cities in 6 provinces.
