Various units of the Suriname Police Corps detained a total of 398 lockdown violators in the Paramaribo region in the past weekend from Friday 11 September to the early morning of Monday 14 September.

The offenders were arrested and taken to the hall on the grounds of the Police Academy. Among them were 45 women. After a number of hours, these offenders were allowed to choose the shortest route to their place of residence by means of a departure ticket.

The police again urges the bourgeoisie to always observe the COVID-19 measures. “Do not let the virus of ‘disobedience’ cause the COVID-19 virus as ‘the angel of death’ to continue to make more and more victims within the Surinamese community” writes the police.
