35-year-old crashes in the Freiburg Alps

A 35-year-old mountaineer was fatally injured in the Freiburg Alps on Tuesday. The Bernese alpinist, experienced by the police, lost his footing in the Gastlosen mountains near Jaun in the massif of the saddle tips in steep terrain and crashed.

The crash occurred before 12.20 p.m., as the Freiburg cantonal police announced on Wednesday. At the time, a man’s climbing buddy was at the foot of the slope. He was in shock.

A doctor from the Swiss Air Rescue Service (Rega) could only determine the death of the fallen mountaineer. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
