Man gets community service for fatal collision at Pinkpop | NOW

Danny S. was sentenced to 120 hours in community service on Wednesday for killing a man and injuring three other festivalgoers at Pinkpop. According to the court in Limburg, the man made a traffic error and overlooked the victim, who was on the road in the night of June 17 to 18, 2018.

According to the judge, S. could have paid more attention to the road than he did.

The court does charge S. less debt than the Public Prosecution Service (OM) does. There are no indications that he drove around very inattentive. “The fact that there were people on the roadway was not so foreseeable for the man and his speed was not so high that it can be said that there is a substantial debt to the accident.”

During the hearing of the case, it appeared that S. had lost his way due to closures in the area. He was on his way to work that night.

The Public Prosecution Service believed that S. should have liked the people and charged that he drove very carelessly. He had already passed once and other drivers knew to drive around the group in time. The Public Prosecution Service therefore demanded eighteen months in prison and a driving ban of five years.

Because S. needs his driver’s license for his work and it had already been taken for some time, the court comes to a driving license for six months.

Adjusted speed in the area

There was an adjusted speed in the area, but there were too few signs to make this clear. S. had slowed down on his own initiative after seeing people walking along the road. It is not known whether he was on his phone at the time of the collision. He says he has forgotten the access code; agents will not be able to search the device.

S. did not report until hours after the accident. The court says he should have known he left people in a helpless state. The defense that he did this out of psychological superiority was rejected.
