34 Indonesian citizens victims of online scams taken to Cambodian police headquarters in Phnom Penh

The head of the International Relations Division (Kadiv Hubinter) of the National Police, Inspector General Krishna Murti, reported on the current condition of 34 Indonesian citizen (WNI) victim of operator company confinement online scam in Poipet, Cambodia. The dozens of rescued Indonesian citizens are now on their way to the Cambodian police headquarters in Phnom Penh.

“The 34 Indonesian citizens of Poipet have been transferred to Phnom Penh. Tonight they will be placed at the Central Security of Police, the headquarters of the Cambodian police,” Krishna said detik comMonday (12/12/2022).

Krishna explained 34 Indonesian nationals were victims of being held captive by operator companies online scam for a time he was placed in central police security. There, they will be registered.

“For the time being, as well as for re-collection of the data,” Krishna said.

Krishna said the 34 Indonesian nationals were in good health. They were estimated to have arrived in Phnom Penh at 2100 local time.

“And thank God, they are all in good health. It is estimated that they will arrive in Phnom Penh at 2100 local time,” explained Krishna.

“They are currently traveling by bus. The journey from Poipet to Phnom Penh is about 7-8 hours,” Krishna added.

Krishna said earlier that the national police chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, had ordered his team to leave for Cambodia to escort the return of the Indonesian citizens who are victims of corporate confinement online scam returned to his homeland.

“We have communicated with the ambassador, at this time the Indonesian Embassy in Cambodia has handled this properly and on the instructions of the Indonesian National Police Chief, has sent the Interpol NCB team with the management and criminal and investigative investigators of North Sulawesi to carry out the investigation,” Krishna Murti said.

He then explained that a team from the National Police Hubinter Division, led by NCB Interpol Polri Secretary Brigadier General Amur Chandra, had left for Cambodia to supervise the repatriation process of Indonesian nationals.
