Jakarta

The cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia are starting to improve. Even so, COVID-19 patients who have recovered can still experience long-term or long-term COVID-19 symptoms.

According to Indonesian Ministry of Health spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Syahril, about 33% of COVID-19 patients in Indonesia have long had COVID-19. Symptoms still appear even if the patient is no longer positive for COVID-19.

“In Indonesia, there is data on about 33 percent long COVID. And this is the most prominent airway disorder,” he continued.

In addition to the respiratory tract, Dr. Syahril also said that the long COVID can occur in the digestive tract. These symptoms were found in patients who experienced no symptoms when they were infected, but experienced only Long COVID follow-up symptoms after recovery.

Dr Syahril said this long-term COVID condition generally occurs after the COVID-19 infection is over. It will usually stick around for a long time.

“Well, this is continuous, it doesn’t mean the patient has finished COVID-19 or been cured, and the symptoms have disappeared. He (long COVID) will be around for a long time, about 3-6 months,” he concluded.
