2K Games formalizes the remake of the first Mafia for a release on August 28 – News

Originally released in 2002 on PC and ported two years later to PlayStation 2 and Xbox, the first Mafia was developed by 2K Czech, which was still called Illusion Softworks. The play takes place in Lost Heaven, a city of Illinois, and puts in scene Tommy Angelo, a taxi driver plunged in spite of him in organized crime in full Prohibition during the Thirties. To the greatest surprise of the fans, c is a complete remake that Hangar 13 has made here, and not only technically.

Mafia: Definitive Edition, the centerpiece of the collection, is a full version, completely redone from scratch of the original Mafia, with an updated scenario and a new richness of dialogues, developed background screens, game sequences added, all new gameplay elements and features, the same game engine that allowed the creation of Mafia III cutscenes among the best in the genre and other improvements. This is the Mafia you remember, much better“explains the press release.

Mafia: Definitive Edition will be available on August 28 at a price of 39.99 euros alone or included in the Mafia Trilogy collection which, if purchased (59.99 euros), allows you to access Mafia II: Definitive Edition now (version remastered in 4K from the 2010 game) and Mafia III: Definitive Edition (version identical to the game released in 2016). These two episodes including of course all the additional content are also available separately on PS4, Xbox One and Steam (later on Epic Games Store and Stadia) for 29.99 euros each.

Mafia II: Definitive Edition will be automatically granted today to all current owners of Mafia II on Steam at no additional cost. All current owners of Mafia III on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam will have their game updated today with Mafia III: Definitive Edition at no additional cost. Players who own some of these titles will receive preferential offers to complete their trilogy via the play menus of each Mafia title“, adds 2K Games.

The Mafia franchise totals 18 million copies sold worldwide, reveals the editor.
