26,050 new infections in Switzerland

On the same day a week ago, the BAG had received reports of 16,734 confirmed new infections, 109 hospital admissions and 17 deaths. The number of cases has increased by 55.7 percent within a week. Hospital admissions increased by 22 percent compared to the previous week.

There are currently a total of 640 people in intensive care in the hospitals. The utilization of the intensive care units is currently 75.70 percent. 16.30 percent of the available beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients.

In the past four weeks, 5,803.38 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infections have been reported for every 100,000 inhabitants. The reproduction number R, which indicates how many people an infected person infects on average, was 1.28 around ten days ago.

69.07 percent of the population in Switzerland are now fully vaccinated. Another 1.03 percent received a first dose. Of the population aged 12 and over, 78.15 percent are vaccinated. In addition, 41.62 percent of the general population and 76.00 percent of those over 65 have received a so-called booster vaccination.

In the past 24 hours, 52,489 new corona tests have been reported to the BAG. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been a total of 2,974,756 laboratory-confirmed cases of infection with the coronavirus, 47,413 people have had to be treated in hospital and 12,811 people have died in connection with Covid-19 disease.

According to the BAG, 72,460 people who have tested positive for the corona virus are currently in isolation.
