Rabat – The number of auto-entrepreneurs registered in the national register reached 233,656 people at the end of June 2020, according to the National Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (Maroc PME).
“The number of registered auto-entrepreneurs increased by 60% in 2019 to reach 130,000 registered at the end of 2019. This upward trend continued in 2020, thus bringing the number of registered self-employed entrepreneurs to 233,656 at the end of June 2020”, indicates Maroc PME in a press release sanctioning the work of its Board of Directors held Thursday under the chairmanship of the Minister of Industry, Trade, Green and Digital Economy, Moulay Hafid Elalamy.
In terms of entrepreneurial support, the number of self-employed entrepreneurs and project leaders supported by the Agency increased from 4,047 in 2018 to 5,004 beneficiaries in 2019, the same source said.
During this council meeting, Mr. Elalamy praised the positive results of the Agency during the year 2019, highlighting the need to industrialize the support process in order to benefit as much as possible from TPME.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the good momentum that the Agency displayed during the first half of 2020, in particular in terms of support for industrial SMEs in managing the difficulties linked to the pandemic of the new coronavirus (covid-19). and the preparation of recovery plans for their activities.
The work of the Board of Directors focused on examining the results of the Agency’s activities during 2019 and the 2020-2023 action plan.
