22 PLHIV Registered in Paser District – MEDIA KALTIM

Head of the Paser Health Service, Dr. I Dewa Made Sudarsana.

PASSER – During 2021 to March 2023 the number of people living with HIV/AIDS (ODHA) in Paser Regency has reached 22 people. In 2021, 2 people were found to be infected with PLHIV, while for 2022 there were 8 people.

Meanwhile, until the first quarter of 2023, there were dozens of new PLHIV residents in Paser Regency. The number has even doubled the total in a year in 2022. The average sufferer is of productive age.

“From January to March 2023 there have been 12 HIV/AIDS reactive people,” said the Head of the Paser District Health Office, Dr. I Dewa Made Sudarsana, accompanied by the Coordinator for Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (P2PM) Eko Ariyanto, Tuesday (14/3 /2023).

News is blowing that there will be 5,000 people living with HIV in Paser Regency in 2022. Dewa denied the information. He said, the circulating data was the target of early detection checks.

“The 5,201 data is our target for early detection for pregnant women in 2022, not the total HIV/AIDS in Paser,” he said.

He said of the 5,201 targeted pregnant women who would be examined as an effort for early detection, only 4,510 were able to target them during 2022. 4,502 were found to be non-reactive. “And eight people were reactive (symptoms of HIV/AIDS),” he explained.

PLWHA in Paser Regency are of productive age or under 40 years, both men and women. He could not confirm that initially the 22 residents experienced HIV/AIDS transmission.

“In general, the transmission is free sex, blood transfusions to the sharing of needles and needles,” said Dewa.

The large number of PLWHA in Paser Regency, found cases of deviations in sexual behavior, namely same-sex enthusiasts. “There are MSM (Men Sex Men),” added Eko Ariyanto.

In addition to outreach about the dangers of HIV/AIDS, people are also asked to be willing to carry out tests for early detection, even if there are no symptoms. The reason is, until mid-March 2023 there were 12 PLHIV. (bs)
