Experts from several prominent organizations in the space field, including NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC), Boeing, Texas A&M University, Ohio State University, and Houston Spaceport, were invited to the forum, as well as Korean and American businessmen, compatriot organizations, and college students. Douglas Terrier, NASA JSC Deputy Center Director for Vision and Strategy, said in a presentation titled ‘From the Moon to Mars – International Partnership for Space Exploration and Development’ that “international cooperation is the only way for NASA to go into space, and various cooperation with Korea and other countries are possible.” “This is necessary,” he emphasized.

He pointed out that many technologies are currently being used to explore resources on the lunar surface, and Korea’s lunar orbiter is one of them. At the same time, he said that the camera (ShadowCam) attached to the lunar orbiter is being used to search for water and ice on the moon, and said, “We hope to further expand cooperation.”

Larry Bell, a professor at the University of Houston, said that the importance of various cutting-edge technologies in space exploration is increasing and predicted, “The artificial intelligence (AI) processor chip produced by SK Hynix can be used for space exploration by humans and robots.”

Experts also emphasized the importance of establishing an institutional foundation for sharing data and information at various levels to promote cooperation between Korea and the United States.
