It is one of the most prestigious ceremonies in Hollywood: before the Oscars 2020 which will take place next February 10, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (association of the foreign press in Hollywood) presented this Sunday January 5 its Golden Globes. So who succeeds Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody or The Americans, winners in 2019?
1917 et Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Succession et Fleabag au top
As for films, if Marriage Story led the nominations, the Netflix film directed by Noah Bauchman did not impose itself on the charts. Only Laura Dern was awarded for the best supporting female role. So these are ultimately 1917 by Sam Mendes (best director) on the dramatic film side and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino on the comedy side who left with the best film awards. On the actor side, Joaquin Phoenix won for her role in Joker and Renée Zellweger won the award for best actress in a dramatic film for Judy. In the comedy category, Taron Egerton won the best actor award for Rocketman and Awkwafina won the best actress award for The farewell. Finally, Brad Pitt won the award for best actor in a supporting role.
Regarding the series, Succession and Fleabag are the big winners. Phoebe Waller-Bridge won the award for best actress in a comedy and Fleabag that of the best comedy. Succession, broadcast on HBO and OCS in France, won the drama series prize and Brian Cox that of the best actor. Olivia Colman is rewarded for her role as Queen Elizabeth in The Crown and the price of the mini-series comes without surprise to the excellent Chernobyl.
