1st the booster dose reaches only 20% of the vaccinated, so they ask for immunization

Considering that we are facing an increase in respiratory cases and at a time when Christmas and New Year’s gatherings are also constant, for these celebrations to be a reunion with loved ones and above all safe, it is very important to be immunized against COVID-19 and to improve the protection provided by vaccines, have the necessary reinforcements, available at vaccination centres.

In this sense, the Ministry of Health, through the Extended Vaccination Program (PAI), urges citizens to complete the vaccination plan against COVID-19. We recall that increasing vaccination coverage prevents the emergence of new variants, one of the most important challenges that continue to be faced.

According to Dr. Héctor Castro, director of the PAI, this week the vaccination figures with the first dose reach 4,005,686 (59%), with the second dose 3,543,866 (53%), with the first booster 1,643,164 (20 %) and with the second booster or fourth dose at 343,848 (5%).

They recalled that in addition to immunization, it is necessary to re-implement care measures such as frequent hand washing, wearing masks in closed or poorly ventilated places and testing, in case of symptoms, to avoid contagion of COVID-19, flu and others.

The campaign carried out in Paraguay provides for vaccination starting from the age of 5, with two doses at full regimen up to 11 years and three doses from 12 and over. Currently, the second booster dose is available from the age of 18 and for children aged 5 to 11 the first booster dose (third dose).

In Asunción, this Saturday, December 24, from 7:00 to 12:00, the vaccines of the Winter 2022 campaign will be applied in the vaccinations of the maternal and child hospital of Loma Pytã, Santísima Trinidad and San Pablo (new building) .

In the same way, the Barrio Obrero General Hospital and the Regional Vaccination Center (Brazil at Fulgencio R. Moreno) will also be enabled.
