This means that the infection in Sandnes has gone from 10 to 17 new cases in the last 24 hours. 13 of the 17 cases are related to entry. Three of them are close contacts.

– The vast majority of cases are related to large families who have been on holiday abroad. This means that we have good control of the route of infection and tracking, says municipal chief physician Hans Petter Torvik to Aftenbladet.

The big jump in infection will not have consequences for the start of school.

– We plan for the schools to start at the green level after the summer. It must happen a lot during the week if it does not happen, says Torvik.

Torvik had hoped that Sandnes could soon go from risk level 2 to 1, but now the municipality must wait for the situation.

– We will be at level two until further notice, so we must see how the infection develops.
