Sixteen teams have made it through to the round of 16 Euro 2020 (Euro 2021) after the last matchday of the group stage, Thursday (24/6) early morning WIB.
The certainty was known after four teams secured the remaining tickets to the round of 16. The four teams include Spain, Germany, Portugal and Ukraine.
Spain qualified as the runner-up in Group E and Germany as the runner-up in Group F. Meanwhile, Portugal and Ukraine secured the last two tickets from the four best third-placed teams for Euro 2020.
Spain confirmed a ticket to the last 16 after a landslide victory over Slovakia 5-0 at the La Cartuja Stadium, Sevilla. Germany qualified as Group runners up alongside France despite almost losing to Hungary in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw.
On the other hand, Portugal won an important point after a draw against France which secured their step into the knockout phase and Ukraine could still qualify even though in the last match of the group phase they lost 0-1 to Austria.
Previously, 12 teams had already confirmed their move to the knockout phase. Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and England qualified after topping the standings in the group stage.
In the footsteps of the four teams, Wales, Denmark, Austria and Croatia were runners-up in the group. Meanwhile, Switzerland and the Czech Republic qualified after being the best third-placed team.
The 10-team step was followed by Sweden and France, who were confirmed to qualify even though they had not yet completed their work in the group phase.
A total of 16 teams that qualify will start competing in the round of 16 of Euro 2020 on 26 June. The round of 16 will take place from June 26 to June 29.
