15-Year-Old Girl Had Two Loaded Guns at Queens School – NBC New York

A 15-year-old teenager was allegedly caught with two loaded firearms at his Queens school on Wednesday, police said.

Charges are pending against the minor, whose name has not been released due to his age.

According to the New York City Police, the boy was found with the firearms in York Early College Academy, which apparently shares space with JHS 008 Richard S. Grossley Public School at the address of 167th Street.

A source within the School Security Agents union said ammunition cartridges were also found with the minor.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred around noon. It was not clear why the boy allegedly brought the weapons or how he got them. The school or police did not immediately provide other details about the circumstances.

The Department of Education condemned the infraction.

“Firearms have absolutely no place in our schools, and behavior like this will not be tolerated,” a spokesperson said. “The Department of Education is fully committed to ensuring that our students, schools and communities are safe. These items were immediately and safely recovered by our school staff and school security officers following a concern raised by a member of the community. All protocols were followed and we are working closely with the NYPD regarding follow-up actions.”

According to its website, York Early College Academy it serves nearly 650 students in grades 6 through 12, along with those in special education programs.
