123,191 children in northern Aceh had to be vaccinated against polio

ACEH UTARA, KOMPAS.com- A total of 123,191 children are expected to participate in immunization polio in the Regency Aceh North, Aceh province.

Currently, the North Aceh health office is vaccinating all children in the district.

“In the past five days, we have immunized more than 47 thousand children. Distributed in 32 community health centers in North Aceh,” the head of disease prevention and control, North Aceh Health Service said on Wednesday (7/12/2022), Ferianto, when contacted.

On the other hand, Ferry continued, residents are encouraged to report a child with weak features to Puskesmas officials.

This early diagnosis is to ensure that no child contracts polio.

“We will be tested for polio or other diseases. We are now testing everything, according to the instructions of the Indonesian Ministry of Health,” she said.

The sample will be taken by district officials and then sent to the Ministry of Health, so that we know exactly what the child is experiencing.

He called on the proactive community to follow suit polio vaccinationso that there are no more cases of children catching polio in Aceh.

In the records of the North Aceh Health Service, a child affected by polio was detected in 2005. The child is now an adult and attending college.

“After 2005 there have been no new cases. We urge parents to be proactive in polio immunization,” she concluded.

Earlier, Aceh was declared an extraordinary case of polio after three polio-infected children were found in Pidie district, Aceh province.

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia requires 1.2 million children in Aceh to take part in polio vaccination.
