The police were notified of the collision, which took place in the Greenhill area of the English city of Sheffield, shortly after 7pm on Wednesday evening.
Marcia Grant (60) was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 12-year-old boy was arrested not long after. He is now suspected of murder, in addition to having been in possession of a knife, writes Sky News.
The late Grant is described as a “warm, loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend”.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are unclear, but according to The Guardian Grant is said to have been hit by his own car.
The boy will appear before the youth court in Sheffield on Saturday, reports say The Independent.
