21.05: The van crashes into two cars parked on Asingastraat in Stad

A van hit two cars parked on Asingastraat in the city of Groningen. The van then stopped in the middle of the road.

According to a witness, no one was injured. However, both cars were badly damaged.

17.25 Robbery of a purse in Westerbadstraat

Police have issued a net report from citizens after someone was robbed of a handbag in the Westerbadstraat in Stad. According to the report, the suspect took off on a granny bike in the direction of the Marwixskade.

The perpetrator is a young man, thin, wearing a hooded sweater and otherwise wearing black clothing.

15.15: Possible petrol leak in the City

The fire brigade was called on Sunday afternoon about a possible fuel leak at a gas station on Zuiderweg in Groningen. There was indeed a strong smell of petrol in the place, which seemed to come from one of the installations.

The firefighters then closed the relevant petrol pump and cordoned it off. The owner of the filling station will inform the technical service.

14.40: Fire in a building under renovation in Sappemeer

On the Noorderstraat in Sappemeer, a fire raged for some time in a building currently under renovation on Sunday afternoon. Firefighters quickly put out the small fire.

Police found a man in the building who didn’t have permission to be there. It’s unclear if this person had anything to do with the fire.

13.44: Fire in the house in Hoogezand

The Hoogezand Fire Brigade was alerted on Sunday afternoon to reports of a house fire in Cartonbaan in Hoogezand.

According to a 112 photographer, the fire had broken out in a barn for unknown causes. The residents had already made an effort to put out the fire themselves.

Firefighters handled the extinguishing upon arrival, a fire department spokesman said. It is not known what was the cause of the fire. It is also not yet clear whether residents were injured in the fire.

11.58: Person in the pit in Veendam

Veendam Police were called Sunday morning about a person in a ditch. The municipal police officer writes that “fortunately the person was found by bystanders”.

The person in question is being examined by paramedics for hypothermia.

02.30: Motorist hits the post in Goudlaan in Stad

A 63-year-old motorist from Groningen was injured on Saturday night when his car collided with a pole on the Goudlaan in Vinkhuizen. According to police, the driver was driving onto a narrow street near the gym.

The victim was taken to the hospital for tests. There, a blood test is also done to see if alcohol or drug use was involved.

The car was badly damaged in the accident.
