101-year-old survives Corona disease after Spanish flu

Mohegan Lake. A US citizen born at the time of the Spanish flu also cured the new corona virus. Angelina Friedman from Mohegan Lake, north of New York City, came to the hospital for a minor treatment in late March, where it was found that the 101-year-old had Covid-19. After four weeks it turned out that her body had defeated the virus, as the TV station WPIX reported.

Friedman was born in 1918 on a migrant ship en route from Italy to New York. Her mother died in the process. The Spanish flu was rife in the city, which at the time killed an estimated 20 million people worldwide. Friedman later survived cancer. “My mother is a survivor,” said her daughter Joanne Merola. “She has superhuman DNA.”
